Meet Marissa
About the Founder
My name is Marissa Humburg, I grew up on a farm in rural south-west Minnesota. Since I was a little girl I have loved music and have enjoyed singing in choirs. As a young adult I discovered a passion for helping people. I worked for 9 years with adults living with physical and developmental disabilities. It was my love of music and helping others that led me to a career in Music Therapy.
After receiving my Bachelor’s of Science in Music Education from Minnesota State University-Mankato, I attended Augsburg University in Minneapolis where I received a Master’s in Music Therapy.
In my work as a music therapist I have observed the power of music and its ability to make a meaningful impact in people’s lives. I have witnessed a hospice patient with end stage dementia turn their head to a loved one when they heard a favorite song. I have seen how music can find a pathway for communication in those who aren’t able to verbally communicate for themselves.
